Abstract: This research aimed to build a morphological method for color inter-frame interpolation with better picture quality than other methods when the input images contain complex connected components. In theory, it is possible to build new color interpolation methods by using di erent color morphological operators. However, none of these operators has emerged as a standard. Consequently, another approach was taken to interpolate color images: interpolating the shapes of the objects in the color images, and then coloring the interpolated shapes. The new color interpolation methods were compared to the linear, and the color median of Iwanowski and Serra methods. Some images were interpolated with the aforementioned methods, and the interpolated images were compared against the ground truth. The new methods frequently obtained better interpolated images. As a conclusion, it is possible to construct better morphologic interpolation methods for color images without using color morphological operators.
