The research was performed in Viña Errazuriz, which is located in Panquehue (cuartel Don Maximiano II) V Region. This is aiming to develop the relationship between the hydric state (potential source of water in the plant) of a type of vine (Vitis vinifera) that belongs to a Cabernet sauvignon variety and the foliar temperature. The specific climate conditions that significantly affect the plants hydric state have to be considered for this relationship. Three irrigation strategies were used according to the phenology of the plant and the predawn water potentials; M1: represents an early middle stress and a strong late stress; M2: represents not early but strong late stress and M3: represents the Viña Errazuriz strategy based on the vines visual analysis (early: before 100% of the color change and late: after 100% of the color change). The measurements of the midday leaf water potential to determine the irrigation were performed before dawn using a Scholander pressure chamber, and the temperature of the leaf was obtained by an infrared thermometer at solar midday and early afternoon. The readings were done during the 2005-2006 season, between December and April, three times a week. The predawn water potential is more stable and less influenced by the whether factors than foliar and midday stem potentials. That’s why it’s recommended to manage the irrigation system under these parameters. This research shows that it’s possible to estimate predawn water potentials directly from the midday stem potentials; otherwise from the midday leaf water potential it’s also possible to calculate the midday stem potentials and finally the predawn water potential. Also through the relative moisture and the foliar temperature, it’s possible to estimate the midday stem potentials to calculate finally the predawn water potential. According to the chosen conditions to manage the assays, it was found that foliar temperature and relative moisture weren’t good parameters to keep plants under an adequate hydric stress.esCC BY-NC-ND 4.0 DEED Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 4.0 InternationalCubierta vegetalFenologia vegetal - ChileMediciones de temperaturaVid - ChileRelación entre estado hídrico y características biofísicas en videsTesis
