Descripción, distribución y estrategias de control de Tetranycopsis horridus (Canestri y Fanzago) en avellano europeo.

Abstract

En la actualidad el avellano europeo es una de las especies frutales con mayor crecimiento en superficie plantada en Chile, con huertos distribuidos entre las regiones del Maule y Los Lagos. Distintas especies de plagas afectan su manejo y productividad, destacando entre ellas el pulgón del avellano (Myzocallis coryli (Goeze)), el chinche pardo (Leptoglossus chilensis (Spinola)), el cabrito del Maitén (Aegorhinus superciliosus (Guérin-Méneville)) y el cabrito del coigüe (Aegorhinus nodipennis (Hope)), las cuales son los más relevantes. Sin embargo, en los últimos años se ha detectado una nueva plaga especialmente entre las regiones del Maule y Biobío correspondiente a Tetranycopsis horridus (Canestri y Fanzago), un ácaro fitófago que en Chile se ha identificado produciendo daño en follaje de avellano europeo, generando bronceamiento y caída prematura de hojas, y cuyo control químico se limita a un reducido número de sustancias activas con registro de uso. Este informe tiene como objetivo describir las plagas que afectan al avellano europeo, además de describir una nueva especie de ácaro que afecta a este cultivo.

Today, European hazelnut is one of the most widely planted fruit species in Chile, with orchards distributed between the Maule and Los Lagos regions. Different pest species affect their management and productivity, among them the hazelnut aphid (Myzocallis coryli (Goeze)), the brown bug (Leptoglossus chilensis (Spinola)), the Maiten weevil (Aegorhinus superciliosus (Guérin-Méneville)) and the Coigúe weevil (Aegorhinus nodipennis (Hope)) are the most relevants. However, in recent years a new pest has been detected, especially between the Maule and Biobío regions, corresponding to Tetranycopsis horridus (Canestri y Fanzago), a phytophagous mite that in Chile has been identified causing damage to European hazelnuts foliage, browing and premature leave fall, and whose chemical control is limited to a small number of authorized active substances. This report aims to describe the pests that affect the European hazelnut, in addition to describing a new species of mite that affects this crop.
