Abstract
Esta investigación propone un enfoque didáctico para integrar la medicina tradicional y el conocimiento sobre plantas medicinales en la enseñanza de ciencias naturales en contextos de interculturalidad. El objetivo principal es analizar la efectividad de la propuesta didáctica en torno a medicina tradicional a través de los resultados de aprendizaje de los y las estudiantes de un colegio de la comuna de Concepción.
Se implementan estrategias educativas que valoren los saberes ancestrales de las comunidades indígenas fomentando el respeto por la diversidad cultural y el aprendizaje significativo. La metodología empleada combina técnicas cualitativas y cuantitativas, incluidos los talleres y encuestas a estudiantes y docentes.
Los resultados evidencian que la inclusión de prácticas y conocimientos de la medicina tradicional en el aula contribuye a fortalecer la identidad cultural de los estudiantes y a sensibilizar sobre la importancia de la biodiversidad. Además, las estrategias didácticas desarrolladas, como el uso de proyectos colaborativos y actividades prácticas, demuestran ser efectivas para conectar los contenidos curriculares con las realidades locales.
La investigación concluye que la implementación de la medicina tradicional y el uso de plantas medicinales en la escuela no solo enriquece el proceso educativo, sino que también promueve un diálogo intercultural, posicionando a las plantas medicinales como un puente entre el conocimiento científico y los saberes tradicionales. Se recomienda ampliar estas iniciativas a otros niveles educativos y contextos culturales, fomentando la preservación de este patrimonio inmaterial.
This research proposes a didactic approach to integrate traditional medicine and knowledge about medicinal plants in the teaching of natural sciences in intercultural contexts. The main objective is to analyze the effectiveness of the didactic proposal regarding traditional medicine through the learning results of the students at a school in the commune of Concepción. Educational strategies were implemented that value the ancestral knowledge of indigenous communities and promote respect for cultural diversity and meaningful learning. The methodology used combines qualitative and quantitative techniques, including workshops and surveys of students and teachers. The results show that the inclusion of traditional medicine practices and knowledge in the classroom contributes to strengthening the cultural identity of students and raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity. Furthermore, the teaching strategies developed, such as the use of collaborative projects and practical activities, proved to be effective in connecting curricular content with local realities. Research concludes that the implementation of traditional medicine and the use of medicinal plants in school not only enriches the educational process, but also promotes intercultural dialogue, positioning medicinal plants as a bridge between scientific knowledge and traditional knowledge. It is recommended to expand these initiatives to other educational levels and cultural contexts, promoting the preservation of this intangible heritage.
