Vibrating screens are critical machines in the mining industry whose function is to classify the ore according to its granulometry. They are essential equipment for mineral processing. Given certain operating conditions, the proper movement of this machine, provides a cost reduction in the screening process. In Chilean mining, a correct classification translates into better obtaining copper and energy savings by avoiding that certain ore sizes go through the crushing stage again. The movement in these machines is generated by an unbalanced mass excitation system. In addition, this oscillatory movement is influenced by the mineral load on the screens, both in quantity and spatial distribution. The main objective of this work is to determine the forces on the classifying screen of a laboratory sieve and to find a relationship with the particle size. Forces were obtained at 2 points of the classifying screen, as well as the acceleration experienced by the vibrating box during the tests at different operating and loading conditions, for a particular particle size. The loads obtained at these points vary according to the amplitude of the exciting force of the system. Regarding the specific objectives, most of them were achieved except for finding a relationship between the force and the particle size, the start-up of the sieve was carried out, all the available and necessary sensors were installed to meet the main objective, the analysis of the experimental data was performed in the MATLAB program, where the main results regarding loads and vibratory amplitudes stand out, in addition, there was a change in the operating conditions of the sieve, specifically, several excitation forces of the system were tested and an analysis of its behavior was carried out. What was not done was to carry out experimental tests with steel balls of a smaller diameter to make a comparison between the two. Loads on the screen change the way the screen vibrates, and the magnitude of these loads can vary depending on the operating conditions of the screen. Most particle loads occur at high frequencies.
