Item Síntesis, caracterización y evaluación de propiedades antineoplásicas de nuevos complejos del tipo three-legged piano stool basados en Ru(II), Rh(III) e Ir(III) conteniendo una ferrocenil-imina derivada de 1,2,4-triazol.(Universidad de Concepción, 2026) Macaya De la Hoz, Juan Carlos; Arancibia González, Rodrigo Sebastián; Zúñiga Arbalti, Felipe AndrésIn this research study, a bioorganometallic strategy was implemented to synthesize new “three-legged piano stool” bimetallic complexes of Ru(II), Rh(III), and Ir(III), which were evaluated as potential antineoplastic agents and aromatase inhibitors. The complexes were synthesized via a coordination reaction of the N,N-donor ferrocene Schiff base [(η5-C5H5)Fe(η5-C5H4)-CH=N-(4)-C2N3-(3,5)-(C5H5N)2], with the various metal centers mentioned above, yielding complexes of the general formula [{(η5-C5H5) Fe(η5-C5H4-CH=N-(4)-(C2N3-κN)-(3,5)-((C5H5N)2-κN’))}M (arene)Cl]+ [PF6]- (where, M(arene)Cl = RuII(𝜂6-p-cimene), RuII(𝜂6-benzene), RhIII, or IrIII(𝜂5-Cp*)). The characterization of all compounds was carried out using FT-IR, 1H/13C NMR (1D and 2D), and elemental analysis techniques, and their molecular structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It is worth noting that the stability of all compounds in aqueous medium was studied using UV-Vis spectroscopy. Finally, both the complexes and the ligand were evaluated for their antineoplastic properties against the breast cancer cell line (MCF-7), as well as for their potential as aromatase inhibitors. This synthetic strategy was developed with the aim of evaluating the effect of different metal centers and structural modifications in arene ligands and establishing possible correlations between structural variations and their influence on antineoplastic and inhibitory biological activity, particularly in the interaction of coordination compounds with cellular and enzymatic systems.
