Item Capacidad de Talaromyces australis y Penicillium murcianum para controlar moho superficial en madera de Pinus radiata D. Don.(Universidad de Concepción, 2024) Ovalle Constanzo, Carlos Matias; Hernández Castillo, Vicente AndrésThe increasing demand for sustainable solutions to prevent mold growth on Pinus radiata wood has driven research into alternative methods of protection. This study aimed to evaluate the protective capacity of the fungi Talaromyces australis and Penicillium murcianum against the surface colonization of Trichoderma viride on Pinus radiata wood under controlled conditions. In-vitro assays were conducted following the D4445-10 standard, assessing the efficacy of extracellular pigments produced by the fungi in inhibiting T. viride growth, as well as their direct application on the wood surface. Results indicated that the extracellular pigments of both fungi did not exhibit statistically significant inhibitory effects against T. viride. However, the direct application of the fungi to the wood demonstrated an ability to inhibit T. viride growth, with T. australis showing greater effectiveness. These findings suggest that T. australis and P. murcianum could serve as biocontrol agents for wood protection, providing a promising and more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional chemical treatments.
