Item Análisis de riego superficial: "Criterios de diseño y manejo de frutales". Estudio de caso(Universidad de Concepción, 2022) Palma Palavecinos, Diego ManuelThe objective of this study was to develop design and management criteria for furrow irrigation in fruit tree orchards with different levels of automation. Soil and plant parameters, water demand as well as the use of physical models to increase water use efficiency were analyzed. Irrigation design criteria for furrow irrigation related to efficiency parameters with design variables were developed. In addition, implementation and operation costs of surface irrigation under different levels of automation were analyzed. The system associated with furrow irrigation with regulation reservoir using smart valves was compared with manual irrigation. For the evaluations, a case study was carried out in the Commune of Chillán, using apple trees variety Gala Brookfield with M.9 rootstock. The results showed that application, requirement, and total distribution efficiencies of over 85% can be achieved by using an automated system and selecting appropriate furrow irrigation design criteria. The irrigation rate (𝑇𝑅) for the month of maximum demand was 54,73 L s-1 for the automated case with regulation reservoir. However, the manual system without such structure has an irrigation rate of 75,78 L s-1 to irrigate the same area. The costs associated with a furrow irrigation system with automation and manual irrigation were 49,08 UF and 41,48 UF per hectare, respectively. In both cases for land leveling costs greater than 61,19 UF, furrow irrigation is not competitive with micro-irrigation.
