Estabilidad de una distribución core-beam de protones con un espectro de ondas electromagnéticas en un plasma magnetizado
(Universidad de Concepción, 2023) Zieballe Jarpa, Guillermo Vicente; Navarro Maldonado, Roberto Elías
In this thesis we present the results of a systematic study of 1D hybrid simulations, considering a plasma composed of a massless electron fluid, a Maxwellian distribution of protons and a finite amplitude Alfvén pump wave. The final state of these simulations is characterized by a core-beam distribution of protons in the presence of an electromagnetic wave spectrum, which results from the parametric decay process the pump wave goes through. Thus, the relaxation process of the parametric instability decay in the system is studied, and the final state of the simulations and its stability are characterized in detail, comparing with parametric instability thresholds obtained from the linear theory of the Magnetohydrodynamic model. The results obtained show the influence of the initial amplitude of the Alfvén wave and the beta parameter of the protons on the evolution and final state of the system under study. In addition, it is suggested that the presence of the resulting wave spectrum contributes to maintain the proton core-beam distribution in equilibrium.
