Abstract
This research analyzes, from an ecofeminist perspective, the implications of the Chilean forestry model on rural women and their local economies in the Biobío and Ñuble regions. The main objective of the study is to identify the impacts of the forestry model on rural territories and examine how rural women have developed practices of resistance and adaptation in response to these challenges. A qualitative methodology based on Grounded Theory was used, with in-depth interviews conducted with rural women from the mentioned regions. The results reveal that the forestry model has caused severe problems in the lives of rural women, such as water scarcity and the loss of agricultural land. However, it is also observed that women have developed sustainable alternatives, such as agroecology and food sovereignty, which allow them to maintain their autonomy and confront the negative effects of the extractive model. The findings highlight the importance of rural women as agents of change and their ability to generate alternatives to the dominant model.
