dc.description.abstractLa avicultura en Chile ha enfrentado años difíciles originados por emergencias epidemiológicas y desafíos comerciales debido a conflictos bélicos. El propósito de esta monografía es analizar la situación avícola chilena entre los años 2020 y 2023, abordando las crisis globales de la pandemia por COVID-19, la influenza aviar y la guerra de Ucrania, y cómo estas afectaron a productos agrícolas como el pollo, el pavo y los huevos. Para tal fin, se recopilaron y analizaron datos oficiales de ODEPA (La Oficina de Estudios y Políticas Agrarias), INE (El Instituto Nacional de Estadística), MINSAL (Ministerio de Salud de Chile), Servicio Nacional de Aduanas de Chile, de la asociación de productores de huevos (Chilehuevos) y del Banco Mundial. Los resultados sugieren que las importaciones y exportaciones de carne de pollo y pavo no presentaron cambios relevantes durante el COVID-19; sin embargo, disminuyeron por el brote de influenza aviar. Durante los años de estudio, la producción de pollo y pavo no experimentó grandes cambios. En los años afectados por la pandemia por COVID-19, tanto el consumo como la producción de huevo aumentaron, mientras que durante el brote de influenza aviar, ambos disminuyeron. La guerra de Ucrania elevó los precios de maíz, trigo y soya y redujo significativamente las importaciones de fertilizantes a Chile. Estas crisis globales han generado daños económicos y humanitarios a nivel mundial.es
dc.description.abstractPoultry farming in Chile has faced difficult years caused by epidemiological emergencies and commercial challenges due to war conflicts. This monograph aims to analyze the Chilean poultry situation between 2020 and 2023, addressing the global crises of the COVID-19 pandemic, avian influenza, and the war in Ukraine, and how these affected agricultural products such as chicken, turkey, and eggs. For this purpose, official data were collected and analyzed from ODEPA (The Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies), INE (The National Institute of Statistics), MINSAL (Chile's Ministry of Health), Chile's National Customs Service, the egg producers' association (Chilehuevos) and the World Bank. The results suggest that imports and exports of chicken and turkey meat did not present relevant changes during COVID19; however, they decreased due to the avian influenza outbreak. During the study years, chicken and turkey production did not experience major changes. In the years affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, both egg consumption and production increased, while during the avian influenza outbreak, both decreased. The war in Ukraine raised corn, wheat, and soybean prices and significantly reduced fertilizer imports to Chile. These global crises have caused worldwide economic and humanitarian damage.en
