Abstract
Phytotoxicity can cause visible symptoms of loss of leaf area, decreased photosynthesis and humidity of the plant and, consequently, decreased productivity of the plant. Therefore, an experiment was carried out under controlled conditions in a greenhouse whose objective was to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of sulfate on Lolium multiflorum and Festulolium spp. because the sulfate toxicity in them is unknown. The experiment considered a completely randomized block design of fifteen pots, composed of four treatments whose sulfate doses were: 100, 250, 600 and 2160 mg of SO4 - L-1 and a control of distilled water, with three repetitions per treatment. The evaluations carried out were dry matter weight (g pot-1), chlorophyll level (SPAD units), foliar analysis (N, P, P and S), soil chemistry (available S) and a phytotoxicity experiment in Raphanus sativus. There were no statistically significant differences (P > 0.05) in the parameters of dry matter weight, chlorophyll level and leaf analysis. However, they did present statistically significant differences (P < 0.05) for the soil chemical analysis parameter in both species. Concluding that the use of sulfate did not affect the productive behavior of Lolium multiflorum and Festulolium spp. in the doses tested.
