Abstract
Lack of orientation in the hospital environment makes it difficult for patients to find their way around the facility, resulting in wasted time for patients and staff. This report proposes an intrahospital positioning system through a mobile application for the Imaging department of the Hospital Clínico Regional de Concepción (HGGB), which seeks to provide a solution to this problem. A bibliographical search is carried out in order to establish a theoretical framework with the necessary conceptual information to devise and propose an intrahospital positioning system integrated with a mobile application and an interactive map using AR and QR codes placed at the facility’s Access points. The solution will allow patients to reach wards efficiently, using augmented reality to guide them in real time through the mobile phone camera. The mobile application was developed in Unity using the Vuforia SDK for AR and the AI Navigation package as main components. Then, it was evaluated through functional tests in the hospital and in the Systems Building of the Universidad de Concepción, checking the performance of the user interface and the correct execution of the navigation system. As a result, a safe, accessible, and low-cost system was developed, providing a viable alternative to guide patients to a point of interest within the hospital without the need for access to personal data or a phone signal. However, further improvements can still be made to provide users with a more complete mobile application, especially considering that it does not always function correctly.
