Abstract
Although there is not enough research linking a vegetarian diet to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), some studies conclude that a plant-based diet not only provides nutrients, but also protects against complications. The objective of this work is: To analyze the efficacy of the vegetarian diet in the management of cardiovascular complications present in Chronic Kidney Disease in adults. Boolean search engines Scielo and Pubmed, mega search engines such as Google and inclusion and exclusion criteria were used to obtain 28 scientific articles related to the research topic. Some of the results showed that both vegetarians and pescatarians had lower rates of hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, and blood pressure compared to omnivores. Based on this research, it is concluded that a vegetarian diet helps minimize cardiovascular complications in chronic kidney disease..
