Abstract
This paper argues that Chilean documentary poetry uses the archive, montage and poetic creation to construct a critical and ethical account of the trauma of human rights violations during the dictatorship. The authors studied, Carlos Soto Román and Jaime Pinos, use these techniques to question hegemonic discourses about the dictatorship and its influence on the present, and to construct a collective memory that responds to new subjectivities. The analysis draws on theoretical concepts from literature, philosophy and sociology, offering a comprehensive view of the representation of the violence of the Chilean dictatorship in post-dictatorship documentary poetry. This work demonstrates how Chilean documentary poetry has been an important tool for the construction of a critical and ethical memory of the dictatorship and its consequences in Chilean society.
