Abstract
Throughout history, springs have served as a source of inspiration for artistic and musical expressions, have been strategic tools in war conflicts, and have played a fundamental role in various religious practices (Kreamer, et al., 2015). This study analyzes the situation of springs in the Ñuble Region, considering their cultural value and water importance for local communities. Through a bibliographic review, experiences in the valorization of springs in the country were analyzed, confirming their deep roots in Indigenous cosmovisions and ancestral practices of sustainable management. The cartographic analysis of registered springs corroborates the relevance of small springs for rural subsistence. The lack of precision on water use makes water management difficult. The characterization of seven springs by means of data sheets systematizes information on flow rates, uses, threats and conservation status. The results highlight the need for a management of springs in the Ñuble Region that considers both their use and their cultural and patrimonial significance for the local communities that have historically made use of them.
