Abstract
Se realizó un diagnostico de la operación y desarrollo del proceso de compostaje de mortalidad de cerdos en un plantel porcino, para lo cual se hizo un seguimiento de las actividades realizadas por el personal para disponer de los cadáveres mediante unidades de compostaje. Posteriormente se evaluó el comportamiento de las unidades en relación a la temperatura que registraron, a partir de muestreos realizados por un termómetro bimetálico, con esto se estableció el nivel de actividad microbiológica presente en las unidades. Con el fin de evaluar la relación C/N, se tomaron cuatro muestras correspondientes a material en compostaje en etapa termófila, material en compostaje en proceso de estabilización o mesotermia 2, fracción solida de purín y aserrín, estos últimos utilizados como material enmienda para la mezcla. En base a estos resultados se recomendó un balance de nutrientes para el sistema de compostaje.
This document presents an analysis of the operation and development of the composting process of swine mortality in a farm located in the area of Cato, Central Chile. The analysis includes a diagnostic, and a series of recommendations to improve the process. A critical point that was evaluated was the temperature of the compost units, because this parameter is an indicator of microbiological. The relationship between Carbon and Nitrogen (C/N) was evaluated in the compost process. Four samples were taken for material on stage thermophilic composting, composting material in the process of stabilization or mesotermia 2, solid fraction of manure and sawdust, which are used as material amendment to the mixture. Based on these results, it is necessary to perform a balance of nutrients for the composting system. The effectiveness of the composting process is directly affected by the quality of management, which can be improve using recommendations that consider the control of the relationship C/N and the temperature along the process.
