Abstract
Este documento estudia la implementación de un sistema de variación de velocidad en la molienda convencional A0 de la división Chuquicamata de Codelco, analizando su influencia en la eficiencia operativa y los costos asociados en la minería. Se examinan diferentes topologías de accionamiento, destacando su capacidad para mejorar el control de la velocidad. El estudio identifica que la efectividad de la topología seleccionada está condicionada por factores como los límites de velocidad operacionales y la adecuada lubricación hidrodinámica. Además, se reconoce la importancia de un control eficiente del torque durante el arranque para minimizar el impacto en el sistema. Finalmente, a través de un análisis de costo/beneficio en distintos escenarios de modernización propuestos por la empresa, se concluye que la opción de mejorar el rendimiento en un 3% es la más ventajosa, con un retorno de inversión relativamente rápido. Sin embargo, se subraya la necesidad de cautela al interpretar estas estimaciones, ya que las mejoras a corto plazo son inciertas.
This document studies the implementation of a speed variation system in the conventional A0 milling process of the Chuquicamata division of Codelco, analyzing its influence on operational efficiency and associated costs in mining. Different drive topologies are examined, highlighting their ability to improve speed control. The study identifies that the effectiveness of the selected topology is conditioned by factors such as operational speed limits and adequate hydrodynamic lubrication. Furthermore, the importance of efficient torque control during startup is recognized to minimize negative impacts on the system. Finally, through a cost/benefit analysis in various modernization scenarios proposed by the company, it is concluded that the option to improve performance by 3% is the most advantageous, with a relatively quick return on investment. However, the need for caution in interpreting these estimates is emphasized, as short-term improvements are uncertain.
