Abstract
The present research, analyzes the process of degradation of the urban landscape surrounding the thermoelectric industry Central Bocamina in Coronel, Biobío region of Chile. It comprises the formulation on the design of landscape regeneration elements through strategies and actions, extrapolated from studied world references, theoretical contrasts as well as tangible evidence observable in the unit of analysis when characterizing the area, whose set involves the participatory action of the community in the practices conducive to landscape regeneration to mitigate the blows caused, without losing sight of technological change, as well as its possible adaptation to the Coronel community. It stands out as descriptive - explanatory - projective research, wich involves the study of landscape theory and its degradation, as part of the social process of urban and economic development. It contemplates a mixed methodological design of concatenated phases, with various techniques, both qualitative and quantitative, between the specific characteristics, the initial non-participant and participatory diagnosis through interviews, face-to-face statistics as well as through the use of ICT, our results They are translated into the SWOT analysis matrix. Contrast processes were also developed between the theory with tangible evidence that confirmed the strength of the comprehensive, prospective and strategic analysis from a joint vision in the design of a functional, adaptable, feasible proposal that Territorializes in maps and diagrams corresponding to the generation of the degraded landscape of the selected urban area. From the epistemological perspective, an optic that integrates architecture, geography and urban planning with the conception of greenfields and brownfields is evidente, in the search for new forms of action from integral sustainability, starting from scratch or taking advantage of what exists, without losing of view the environment, as well as the different effects that the industries cause on it in the search for the desired development and socioeconomic well-being.
