Abstract
Se desarrolló un estudio técnico y económico, tendiente a analizar la factibilidad de producir la reconversión agrícola, en un predio de 19 ha en el sector de Quinchamalí, comuna de Chillán, VIII Región. El estudio se basó en la realidad de la zona, con una agricultura de subsistencia de cultivos tradicionales, los cuales no han permitido un desarrollo socioeconómico de los agricultores.
Para revertir esta realidad se analizaron diferentes tipos de cultivos y las tendencias de éstos en los mercados nacional e internacional, obteniendo así los comercialmente favorables para ser desarrollados en el predio.
A continuación, con la finalidad de obtener los cultivos más adaptables a las condiciones del sector, se recopiló información de las características climáticas de la zona y, a través de la variable edáfica, las restricciones impuestas por el tipo de suelo. Se realizó un estudio comparativo entre diferentes tipos de cultivo concluyendo que arándanos, manzanos, cerezos y nogales, son los frutales que tienen mayor perspectiva de desarrollo comercial.
Luego se diseñó un equipo de riego por goteo apropiado a los cultivos elegidos, cuantificando, de esta forma los recursos necesarios para realizar la respectiva evaluación económica.
De la evaluación económica se desprende que el proyecto de reconversión es viable, en cuanto el valor actual neto (VAN) es positivo y la tasa interna de retorno (TIR) es mayor que la tasa de interés del 10% utilizada.
A technical and economic study was carried out in order to analize the feasibility of producing substitution of crops in a farm of 19 ha in the Quinchamalí area, VIII Region. The study was based on the actual circumstances of the area with a subsistence agriculture of traditional methods, which do not allow the socioeconomic development of the farmers. To change this situation, different types of agricultural crops and their possibilities in the national and international markets have been analized, indicating the commercially most favourable to be cultivated on the farm. With this purpose, the climatic and soil characteristics of the area were considered. A comparative study was carried out among different types of crops, concluding that berries, apples, cherries and walnuts are the fruits species with the best commercial prospects. Besides, a drip irrigation system was designed according to the needs of production, and an economic evaluation was performed. Through the whole process, it is understood that the project of conversion is viable, as long as the present net value (VAN) is positive and the internal rate of return (TIR) is higher than the 10% applied rate of interest.
