Abstract

The variation over time of physical, chemical and microbiological properties of blueberries was evaluated (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) cv. Liberty and Aurora maintained under cooling conditions in times that simulate travel times of export to different destinations (0, 30, 45 and 60 days). In cv. Liberty tested applications of Compost Tea (Vitta Feed) and Aurora applications of Calcium (Enervit Full Calcium 35®). For both cv. Gasification with sulfur dioxide (SO2) at Concentration-Time (C-T) rates of 200 ppm * h -1 SO2 was also evaluated as a study variable. The samples were taken at Agrícola Hüne, located on the way to El Peral Km 0,5 Los Angeles, Biobío, Chile, during the 2013-2014 season. The evaluations were carried out in the Laboratory of microbiology and quality of the Department of Agroindustries of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering of the University of Concepción (UdeC). ORAC analysis was performed in a laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the UdeC. In general the fruit of the cv. Liberty and Aurora showed significant drops of humid between harvest and 45 days from harvest (ddc). Treatments with SO2 tend to soften the fruit and increase dehydration, however in the microbiology analyzes the goodness of the treatment in the control of Botrytis is shown. Controlling other fungi like Penicillium showed that C-T was insufficient given the presence of the post-treatment fungus. Calcium treatments in the cultivar Aurora (A + Ca) showed significantly better results than the rest of the evaluated treatments at 60 days from harvest in terms of dehydration. The greater caliber of Aurora seems to favor postharvest compared to Liberty. Liberty has greater sweetness than Aurora measured from soluble solids. The antioxidant capacity measured through the ORAC method was 30% higher in Liberty than in Aurora. The compost tea evaluated in Liberty did not show improvements in the postharvest conditions, more is shown some evidence of being a source of fungal fungi inoculum.
