Abstract
The study objective is to analyze the feasibility of an extension of the reservoir, through the development and application of simulation methodology of this reservoir. It was developed a simulation of the reservoir operation, considering different accumulation volumes: current volume 30 Mm³ and two possible extensions of 60 and 90 Mm³. The simulation considered hydrological parameters of entry and exit from the accumulator cropping patterns associated with the current efficiency of application of irrigation water in the area. The behavior of reservoir Coihueco was assessed for a period of 33 years (1969-2001) identifying in which year the reservoir is not able to meet the irrigation demands, for different irrigation areas from 4334 hec and increment of 25% to 150%. It's hydrologically considered feasible to extend the reservoir for the two proposed cases of 60 and 90 Mm³.
