Abstract
The Laguna Los Litres, located between the municipalities of Cabrero and Quillón in the Biobío region, is an ecologically important wetland that has not been sufficiently studied. This work aimed to describe the bird community inhabiting the wetland and the threats it faces for its conservation. Over the course of one year, between October 2021 and September 2022, 15 visits were made to the area, recording the presence of birds through direct observations and walks around the lagoon’s perimeter. A total of 64 species were identified, distributed across 15 orders and 30 families, with anseriformes standing out, as they use the wetland as a breeding site. Additionally, several threats to the ecosystem were identified, including deforestation, climate change, intensive agriculture, and the presence of invasive species. These factors negatively impact the habitat and biodiversity of the lagoon, highlighting the urgent need for conservation measures.
