Abstract
El presente estudio analiza el acompañamiento que profesionales del área educacional entregan a las familias de estudiantes de educación media con intentos suicidas en la comuna de Coronel. Mediante la implementación de un enfoque cualitativo y un diseño fenomenológico, se busca comprender las experiencias y percepciones de profesionales sobre la dinámica familiar posterior a un intento de suicidio, identificando fortalezas, limitaciones y estrategias de apoyo que toman los establecimientos. Para la recolección de los datos se utilizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a directivos, cuerpo docente y duplas psicosociales que hayan participado en estos procesos. Para analizar los datos se usó el análisis del contenido. Los resultados del estudio muestran que los establecimientos educacionales cumplen un rol clave como espacios de contención emocional, especialmente en contextos de alta vulnerabilidad. Asimismo, se identifican como principales desafíos a enfrentar la escasa articulación con redes externas, el desgaste de los equipos educativos, la falta de protocolos efectivos y formación en salud mental. Pese a estas limitaciones, se evidencian estrategias institucionales valiosas, centradas en el vínculo con las familias y el trabajo colaborativo. Lo anterior permite concluir que el acompañamiento realizado por profesionales del área educacional constituye un factor protector esencial tras un intento suicida, siendo urgente fortalecer estos procesos mediante políticas públicas, capacitaciones y sostenibilidad en el tiempo.
Adolescence involves significant changes that require protective factors to cope with its difficulties. Caring for the emotional well-being of young people is essential for their personal and academic development. Educational establishments can detect, contain and intervene in risky behaviours such as suicide attempts. This study analyses the support provided to families of adolescent students who have attempted suicide in the municipality of Coronel-Chile. Using a qualitative method with a phenomenological design, interviews were conducted with administrators, teaching staff, and psychosocial teams involved in these processes. Content analysis was used to interpret the data. The results show that schools play a key role in emotional support, especially in highly vulnerable contexts. Challenges to be included in public policies are identified, such as coordination with intersectoral networks, addressing the burnout of educational teams, generating clear protocols and promoting mental health training in educational communities.
