Abstract
Nature-based solutions (NbS) draw inspiration from nature to address environmental, social, and economic challenges. Green infrastructure (GI) stands as a tangible example of these solutions, applying them in urban and rural settings to enhance community life. The study examined successful cases at both national and international levels to demonstrate their effectiveness across diverse geographical contexts. Eight NbS with potential for Chile were identified and evaluated using a SWOT matrix, analyzing their strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats. Two solutions were extensively studied in the central and southern regions of Chile, considering applicable regulations and existing programs. Despite the potential of NbS to mitigate climate change and enhance resilience, their implementation faces obstacles such as lack of coordination among stakeholders and threats like urbanization and policy inconsistency. This underscores the necessity for strategic collaborations to effectively apply these solutions.
