Abstract
This study examines the rural localities of Antuco through a perspective that integrates objective factors (infrastructure, transportation, access to potable water, and economic conditions) with subjective dimensions (perceived well-being, sense of belonging, and territorial identity). Employing a mixed-methods approach—standardized surveys and interviews with key actors—it identifies precarious basic services, limited public transportation, and the absence of a long-term planning vision, all of which reinforce inequality and dependence on external resources. Simultaneously, the communities’ resilience is evident, manifesting in self-managed initiatives and a strong sense of belonging. In parallel, opportunities related to rural entrepreneurship and sustainable tourism emerge, albeit constrained by insufficient infrastructure and limited institutional support. Overall, these findings highlight the tension between improving material conditions and preserving territorial identity, underscoring the importance of balancing economic and cultural potential to advance the local quality of life.
