Caracterización de bacterias ácido lácticas antárticas.

Antarctica has unique climatic conditions, which have given specific qualities to the living beings of that region. Here microorganisms have developed different mechanisms to cope with such conditions. Considering the pharmaceutical and biotechnological utility of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), it is intended to study their characteristics in the continent. For this, the data from the eca-56 campaign on the continent during the year 2020 was used. The samples were georeferenced with mapping programs and ordered and processed using Excel. According to the results, it was obtained that the BAL had higher positivity at 48 hours after extracting the samples with the MRS culture medium. Tourism and scientific intervention were also associated as the main causes of their arrival on the continent. Due to the distribution between the biotic and abiotic environments, the Antarctic biota had a greater presence, also demonstrating that it has been circulating through the food webs of the region. Coccoid, coccobacillary, and bacillus morphologies were also found in BAL. It is still necessary to study in greater detail these bacteria located in Antarctica.
