Abstract
The main objective of this document was to analyze the existing methods, whether physical, chemical or biological, to reduce evaporation in surface water bodies such as dams, reservoirs, artificial lakes, irrigation canals, etc., determining the advantages and disadvantages of each of them. Based on this objective, the methodology used was a search for information on existing evaporation reduction methods, through papers, books, theses, web documents, among others, to then analyze and evaluate the performance of each method. In general, the existing methods to reduce evaporation, which work by installing structures or applying chemicals to reduce the effect of exposure of water bodies to environmental factors that accelerate the evaporation process. Finally, the analysis allowed to compile the advantages and disadvantages of them, evaluating the importance of knowing methods that can improve the care, management of technology and resources in the loss of water by evaporation in dams.
