Abstract
Pre-feasibility of concentrated carrot juice processing plant (Daucus carota), with a production rate of 100 ton/day and 6 month/year period was analyzed. Information in this study is based on primary sources of data, for equipments, supplies cost, land cost and secondary information for production volume, yield, market data, among others. Market study is done to provide information about the national and world consumption of carrot juice. The technical study aims to estimate the place for the plant location, required dimensions, and processes, among others. Legal and environmental study shows the main requirements to develop the process and the facilities for marketing. Economical study was done considering 30% of the regional raw material available from regional total production, 17.000 tons/year, and a purchase base price of 48(M$/ton) was established while the selling base price was 702 (M$/ton of concentrated product). On the base of NPV (Net Present Value) to 10%, it results: IRR (10%) = - 6.169 (MM$).The result shown inhibit the interest in this project; however, it is interesting to see what happens with the sensitivity study.
